PARIS, OCTOBER 15, 2016: (DGW) Report reaching our newsroom from the Nigerian military say that the decision of the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to swap deadly Boko Haram commanders for 21 Chibok girls is causing ripples of anger within the military especially among the troops involved in the counter-insurgency operations in the restive northeast.
A source who emailed our newsroom from Abuja said although the release of the girls who have been in captivity was a thing of joy but what Nigeria gave in exchange for the girls did not go down well with top military figures.
Recall Nigeria's Vice President Osinbajo had denied on Friday in an interview with Al Jazeera that Nigeria released top Boko Haram commanders in return for the freed Chibok girls. Our source exclusively revealed that the Vice President had to tell that lie out of fear and to douse the rising discontent and tension within a section of the military who received the news with mixed feelings.
Majority of the military officers said the release of the Boko Haram commanders took them by storm as they only heard about it in the news which reports say did not go down well with them considering the number of civilians and security personnel that have died in the over six years old insurgency
